The building of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science was at its time a technological and architectural marvel. It was one of the first high rise buildings with a double climate façade, an ingenious climate buffer that eventually proved to be the downfall of an, otherwise, brilliant design.
The drive of the DSBT design challenge was to redesign the building in order to bring it to the 21’st century and make it function for many more years to come. My fascination was to adapt the building to its environment in order to improve the working climate. This should be done by giving back the power over the indoor climate to the user and by using a small amount of technical and cosmetic changes. Thus, low tech changes should result in high tech solutions.
